Scientists recently discovered that a common medication could help treat brain aging and dementia-related issues.
Scientists from Northwestern University recently discovered that a class of flu drugs helped reduce cognitive decline and premature aging in those living with chronic viral infections.
The study, which was published in Med, a peer-reviewed journal, said that the findings illuminate a possible new therapy for those living with HIV who face cognitive issues. However, they noted that this research may have broader implications for other age-related diseases, such as dementia.
“We are not saying yet that people should take flu drugs to prevent cognitive decline,” said Mohamed Abdel-Mohsen, the study’s leade author and an associate professor at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine.
