ANita Goel, MD, PhD

Chairman and ceo Nanobiosym institute and Nanobiosym Diagnostics

Anita Goel, MD, PhDDr. Anita Goel, MD, Ph.D. is a world-renowned expert and global entrepreneur in the field of Nanobiophysics – an emerging science at the convergence of physics, nanotechnology, information science, and biomedicine. At the Nanobiosym Research Institute (NBS®), Dr. Goel is pioneering the new physics of life, living systems, and consciousness. She and her team are elucidating the physics of one of the most fundamental processes of living matter, the way nanomachines read and write information into DNA, how this process is influenced by the environment, and how quantum mechanics might play a “nontrivial” role in their dynamics.  Whereas modern physics in the 20th century was developed primarily in the context of closed systems, Dr. Goel seeks to expand conventional theoretical and experimental physics frameworks and their mathematical machinery to describe open, negentropic systems that operate far from equilibrium- such as life and living systems that are strongly coupled with their environment. She has developed a new theoretical physics framework that elucidates the interplay of matter, energy, and information at a very fundamental physics level.

As the Chairman and CEO of Nanobiosym Diagnostics (NBSDx), Dr. Goel is commercializing her nanophysics and digital diagnostics innovations with products and services that empower people and healthcare systems to access high resolution data about what is happening inside their own bodies- in real-time and in a decentralized way. Dr. Goel has partnered with the FDA to spearhead fully decentralized RWD (real world data) collection and clinical trials that will bring much needed transparency to the safety and efficacy of drugs and vaccines and accelerate how non-conventional, life-saving therapies get to market.  Dr. Goel has secured two accelerated FDA EUA Approvals, built an ISO 13485 certified medical device and nanomanufacturing facilities in Massachusetts, and established a CLIA certified and CAP accredited Lab licensed in all 50 states and secured reimbursement by CMS and top private payors. At NBSDx, she oversees all product design, engineering, clinical trials, regulatory approvals, and manufacturing, including breakthrough technologies, such as her X-PRIZE winning Gene-RADAR® invention and its “apps” for personalized medicine, anti-aging, earlier detection of chronic disease, digital health, and global food & health security. Barclay’s Global Investment Bank and The Unreasonable Group have selected NBSDx as one of the “World’s Top 10 Companies solving the Global COVID Crisis” and Scientific American Magazine has featured her work on multiple occasions, including  how “Precision Mobile Testing Is Key to Opening the Economy Safely.” The Saudi Future Investment(FII) Summit  has also recognized Dr. Goel and Nanobiosym as one of the 12 most promising frontier technology companies in health and wellness that will shape “What’s Next for Global Business.”

Named one of the World’s “Top Science and Technology Innovators” by MIT Technology Review and one of the “World’s Most Influential Visionaries in Biotech” by Scientific American, Dr. Goel has collaborated very closely with multiple Nobel Prize Winners (spanning physics, chemistry, and medicine) in pioneering new scientific frontiers. She has been recognized globally by prestigious honors including 3 DARPA Breakthrough Awards, 2 USAID Grand Challenge Awards, NASA’s Galactic Challenge Award (with Elon Musk’s SpaceX), the first ever XPRIZE awarded in healthcare, and multiple awards from the DOD, DOE, AFOSR, NSF, DHHS, and FDA. Dr. Goel has over 85 patents worldwide and has published in leading scientific journals like Nature, Scientific American, and Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences. In her dual role as Scientific Director/ PI of Nanobiosym Research Institute and CEO of Nanobiosym Diagnostics, Dr. Goel has in aggregate been awarded or raised millions in highly competitive U.S. government contracts, grants, prizes, awards, and private sector investments. She has convened and chaired 3 international conferences at Stanford, Harvard, and MIT and delivered more than 100 Invited Keynotes at global symposia, TEDMED, TEDx, and Distinguished Guest Faculty Lectures at leading universities around the world. Additionally, Dr. Goel has been featured in 2 Hollywood documentaries: i) “Awake: The Life of Yogananda"(2014), about the life and teachings of the man who introduced yoga to the West, where she discusses the science behind yoga and meditation; and ii) “Quantum Convergence: The New Science of Consciousness” (2025), where she appears alongside Nobel Laureates Roger Penrose and the Dalai Lama and discusses how our current 20th century physics does not yet adequately describe life, living systems, and consciousness.

Dr. Goel has also served as an expert on the U.S. Senate for the $1.5 billion National Nanotechnology Initiative; an Advisory Council to the U.S. President's Council of Advisors on Science and Technology (PCAST) on its Strategy for American Innovation; as Board Member on the Triennial Review Board of the National Academy of Sciences; as a Member of the Committee on Manufacturing Innovation of the National Academy of Engineering; and as an Advisory Council Member for CIFAR (Canadian Institute for Advanced Research), advising Canada’s Prime Minister. She has also served as part of the Curriculum Committee at Harvard Medical School, Scientific Advisory Board at Sadhguru Center for a Conscious Planet at Harvard Medical School, Advisory Council Member & Judge at the X-PRIZE Foundation, and on the Nanotechnology & Scientific Advisory Boards of Lockheed Martin and PepsiCo Corporations.

Dr. Goel holds a Ph.D. and M.A. in Physics from Harvard University, an MD from the Harvard-MIT Joint Division of Health Sciences and Technology (HST) at Harvard Medical School, and a BS in Physics with Honors & Distinction from Stanford University.
