Study of volunteer DNA supports an old theory of why aging happens
The question of why our bodies break down with age has puzzled researchers for generations: Natural selection, one might expect, should favor genes that keep us healthy and strong for as long as possible.
But a study published last week in Science Advances lends credence to an old theory that aging happens because it’s tied to something natural selection favors even more than longevity: fertility.
